Meet the Team

  • Rachel Hicks

    FOUNDER

Hi, I’m Rachel the founder of Rachel’s Driving School and a fully qualified DVSA Approved Driving Instructor (ADI) since December 2008. With over 16 years of experience, I’ve dedicated my career to helping people of all ages and backgrounds gain the skills and confidence they need to become safe, capable drivers.

My journey began with two of the UK’s largest national driving schools - BSM (2008–2010) and The AA Driving School (2010–2012) - where I gained extensive training and experience. In 2012, I launched my own independent driving school to offer something more personal, flexible, and tailored to each learner.

I believe learning to drive should be empowering, not overwhelming. Everyone learns in their own way, and my role is to adapt to you - whether you’re a nervous beginner, a returning driver, or someone preparing for a test. I also hold additional qualifications as a Fleet Driving Assessor, which gives me deeper insight into safe, efficient, and professional driving techniques.

Learning to drive isn’t just about passing a test — it’s about gaining independence, mastering a lifelong skill, and feeling confident every time you get behind the wheel.

  • Josh Tilley

    MANUAL INSTRUCTOR

Josh’s enthusiasm for teaching shines through in every lesson. With a patient and approachable style, he loves seeing learners progress from their first lesson to test day success.

  • Aaron Brown

    AUTOMATIC INSTRUCTOR

I'm training to become an ADI as part of a career change and to qualify in a profession that greatly appeals to me. My background is in journalism, and after working for a number of publishers in London originally and later my home city of Winchester, I spent 16 years as a member of the communications team at Hampshire Constabulary. More recently I've enjoyed working in the education sector, and I'm keen to use these transferable skills to continue to teach young people some of the most important life skills in the form of driving. When l first met Rachel I was impressed by her approach to teaching driving and I knew instantly hers was a team l wanted to be a part of. Outside of work, for more than a decade I have been a coach and later co-chairman of Worthys Youth Football Club. Family is very important to me, and my wife Jo and l have two teenage sons, Lewis and Jamie.
