Theory Test Information
Learning to drive isn’t just about practical lessons – understanding the rules of the road is just as important
We use an accelerated learning approach to help you prepare for your theory test quickly and effectively.
Everyone learns differently. Some people are visual learners, some prefer reading and note-taking, while others learn best through practical discussion. My role as your instructor is to understand your preferred learning style and create a structured, personalised programme that works for you. When you learn in a way that feels natural, you’ll take in information faster, remember it more easily, and approach your tests with confidence.
About the Theory Test
The Theory Test is a two-part, computer-based assessment that you must pass before booking your practical driving test. It ensures you have the essential knowledge and hazard awareness needed to be a safe and responsible driver.
Multiple-Choice Questions
This section consists of 50 multiple-choice questions based on the Highway Code and safe driving practices.
You’ll need to score at least 43 out of 50 to pass.
Each question will offer four possible answers, and you may need to select one or more correct responses.
You’ll have up to 57 minutes to complete this section.
Hazard Perception
Immediately after the multiple-choice section, you’ll move on to the Hazard Perception test.
You’ll watch 14 short video clips, each showing everyday driving scenarios.
At least one developing hazard will appear in every clip - one clip will contain two hazards.
You’ll need to click the mouse as soon as you see a hazard developing, earning points for spotting hazards quickly and accurately.
The maximum score for this section is 75, and you’ll need at least 44 points to pass.
